Active as a teacher and performer throughout North and East Texas, violinist Rachel D. Smith has performed across the U.S. and internationally, in venues ranging from hospitals within the Texas Medical Center to the famed Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Germany. She currently performs with regional orchestras throughout the DFW metroplex, and has also performed as an orchestral and chamber musician in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and China.

Her interest in teaching was sparked by her undergraduate participation in the Texas Tech University String Project, which is a Suzuki-curriculum-based string education program for elementary-age students. After completing a masters in performance at the University of Houston, Ms. Smith developed a private studio in Houston and also taught at the British International School of Houston.

She currently runs the Suzuki violin program at The Covenant School in Dallas, TX, and also maintains private studios in both Dallas and her hometown of Tyler, TX.

Since completing graduate school, Rachel has worked with over fifty students from kindergarten to high school. Former students have been accepted into the Houston Youth Symphony and summer programs offered through the American Festival for the Arts. As a proud alumna of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and Texas All-State Orchestra, Ms. Smith is passionate about using her performance experience to help her students achieve success in both their solo and ensemble playing.
